It is that time of year again to start getting ready for fun in the sun!  Lazy days at the beach and hanging out by the pool with your girlfriends, is just around the corner.   This might mean you need to go bathing suit shopping, paint your toes a bright pink to match your cute summer flip flops, or start thinking about healthy summer snacks you can make when your friends come over.

What is one great fact about summer snacks? Color!  Summer snacks can be full of different colors by using a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables.  Fresh fruits in season include pineapple, strawberries, figs, blueberries, peaches, and the list goes on!  Fruit is not only full of vitamins and fiber, but it will help you stay hydrated in the heat.  Juicy fruit is very satisfying and refreshing on a hot summer day, but you want to make sure you are still drinking plenty of water.

Are you thinking about having some friends over this summer and want so make some refreshing snacks for them?  Some perfect treats are fruit kabobs.  All you need is three or four of your favorite fruits and wooden sticks.  After slicing the fruit, layer one fruit on top of another and you have a colorful and delicious snack to serve your friends!

Another creative idea is to take a frozen peeled banana and roll it in yogurt.  Then sprinkle the banana with granola, return it to the freezer, and wait for your healthy popsicle to freeze.  An even easier snack that everyone loves is frozen grapes.  If you have not tried frozen grapes yet, you’ll love them.  They are a sweet treat that will help you stay cool in the summer.

Once you have all of your healthy snacks ready this summer, then it is time to invite all your friends over!
