What’s in Your Brown Bag?

Bored with the usual stuff in your lunch bag?  Why not try something new?

Here are a few creative ideas for healthy, balanced lunchables that are fun to make and beyond the ordinary.




Tired of sandwiches?  – Get “rollin” instead!


Romaine Lettuce Heart Wrap with spinach and sun-dried tomatoes.

Roast Beef and Cheese Wrap skip the processed cheese – go for the real stuff!

Turkey and Avocado Wrap and crispy veggies for yummy crunch

B.E.A.T (Bacon, Egg, Avocado, Tomatoes) Salad Wrap with Romaine lettuce heart

Lettuce Logs filled with grilled, stir-fried chicken, tofu, scallions and low-sodium Tamari



Same old salad? – Get creative with fruits and veggies!


Fruit and Veggies On A Stick – Fun to make kebabs.

Stop Light Peppers – green, yellow, and red peppers.

Very Merry Berries – grapes, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries all mixed up.

Go Greek – cherry tomatoes, cucumbers, and Kalamatta Olives

Ants on a log – celery with nut butter, topped with raisins

Yummy-Mummies – wrap dates, figs, melon, apples, or pears with prosciutto, ham, or cooked bacon – aim to use pastured, nitrate free pork as often as possible!





Chips dull? – “Crack” up instead!

Pita Crackers – Make your own! Cut up fresh pita, brush with olive oil/walnut oil, and bake.

Sweet Potato Chips – peeled, sliced thin, brushed with olive oil, seasoned sea salt, and bake.

Sloppy Frisbees – choose your cracker and spread nut butter or hummus between two slices, making a sandwich.

Trail Mix – include a blend of raw nuts, seeds, and dried fruit.

Nuts and Bolts – almonds, Walnuts, Pecans, Cashews, Sunflower Seeds, Pumpkin Seeds, Cranberries, Raisins, Apricots, etc.
